Only in America
What the heck is it?Only in America is a video that was made to teach beginning English to adults. Only in America consists of 8 segments (5 of which include Edward Norton), each of which "focuses on a major language area." The video is used with an Activity Book that gives suggestions on how a teacher can best use this in a classroom, along with exercises and vocabulary work for students. The video comes on two cassettes, each cassette is 30 minutes in length. The video was was filmed in New York City, Long Island and New Jersey and the copyright date is 1994 (production on Primal Fear, EN's earliest film, started in April 1995). How can I get it?You're not going to find these tapes at Amazon.com or your local bookstore. These are instructional tapes that can most easily be obtained by the manufacturer Oxford University Press. But there are a few things you should consider before you get out your VISA card: this video was not created for entertainment, but for English as a second language (ESL) classes. The dialogue, situations, etc. are geared not for aesthetics, but for learning, so don't expect to prefer it over American History X. Plus, there is another thing that sets it apart from all of EN's other projects. Each videocassette is $70, so at $140 total, it is easily the highest priced Edward Norton project currently available.
