Karlovy Vary Festival
|
|
An interview with Edward Norton and an image from the Karlovy Vary Film Festival is now available Hollywood's Soft-spoken Intellectual. Movieline magazine July issue has a paragraph on The Score [Thanks to
HBLivin80s for the info!]. The August Movieline mentions EN (among a list of other actors) with some casting rumors about a film adaptation of the book "A Beautiful Mind." The book is a bio of John Nash Jr., "a bisexual mathematical mastermind who descends into madness but somehow managed to regain his sanity and eventually win a Nobel Prize" (in Movieline's words). The column is very vague and rumor filled, listing Russell Crowe as the top contender for the role (with Ron Howard possibly directing) and other actors "rumored" to be interested in the role include Matt Damon, Edward Norton, Jude Law, and Matthew
McConaughey.

Casting rumor
|
|
NEW PROJECT RUMOR- Mr. Showbiz Deadline Hollywood (6/22) report the newest possible project for Edward Norton is "a rethinking of the 1971 Sam Peckinpah film Straw Dogs", which starred Dustin Hoffman. "Sources" say that EN is "determined to star in and direct" the project and that the script would be written by Keeping the Faith screenwriter
Stuart Blumberg. PLEASE realize that this is just a rumor- nothing official has been confirmed and he does have a lot going on professionally. EN is currently filming The Score, he is set to start filming The Painted Veil in the fall, and he has two additional projects in the works: Motherless Brooklyn (he is planning on starring and producing it) and A Soldier of the Great War (produce and probably star). For more on the Straw Dogs rumor, click here [Thanks so much to
Joanne for the info!!!]

Score filming info
and other stuff
|

Variety (5/8/00) reports that Angela Bassett has signed on to co-star in The Score with Edward Norton, Robert De Niro, and Marlon Brando. There has also been a negative script review
on The Score (with PLOT SPOILERS) posted on IGN FIlm Force Read
at your own risk [Thanks to Joanne for all
the info!]. It's only a matter of days. The production listing of The Hollywood Reporter gives May 15 as the start date for filming on The Score, in Montreal. Variety (5/5/00)
reports that a sequel to Midnight Express called Midnight Return will start filming in Tunisia in the fall and that the producers are approaching Edward Norton for the lead role
[Thanks to Joanne for the info!]. But wait, just because they're interested in EN for their picture doesn't mean he's interested. He already has some plans: shooting
on The Painted Veil in which he will co-star with Nicole Kidman is supposed to begin in the fall. Click here for more info on The Painted Veil. Fight Club is now available to rent. The Fight Club DVD will be released on June 6 and will have many special features not available on VHS. The legal battle
over the editing of American History X is finally over. The judge threw out AHX director Tony Kaye's lawsuit against the DGA and New Line Studios.
Click here for the article. To read more article on the entire disagreement,
