After my move, I'm finally somewhat settled and I am getting all the recent

Joanne who provided an unbelievable amount of help in this regard.

GMA appearance
|
|
EN is now scheduled for TOMORROW (Tuesday 4/11) for Good Morning America rather than today. I'm 0 for 2 on correctly reporting his appearances this week (from my seat at Kinko's), so hopefully this one is right.
he is also scheduled this Friday for the Tonight Show with Jay Leno [Thanks to
anna_pez for the info!]. You may want to keep an eye on the entertainment news programs this week (Entertaiment Tonight, Access Hollywood, E! News Daily, and CNN Showbiz) because the largest amount of publicity for the film should happen this week with Keeping the Faith opening on Friday. Jenna Elfman is scheduled for Good Morning America and the Rosie O'Donnell show on Wednesday.

KTF appearances, KTF premiere
|
|
Well, I'm sorry. EN was scheduled for Letterman for Fri night but he most definitely was not on it and I don't know why. Unfortunately, I don't get the info from his reps so if there is
a change in scheduling, I have to hope that I get the updated info in time from my alternate sources. He is scheduled for Good Morning America on Monday. Hopefully that appearance will occur. The only good thing
about having to move for a new job at the same time that one of EN's movie is released is that my new job is in Baltimore and I
was able to attend last night's benefit premiere of Keeping the Faith. I
took pics of EN and tape recorded the speech that he gave at the beginning. I will post more info on the event in the next few days. The premiere
benefited the Lining Classrooms Foundation and the
St. Frances Academy Robin Norton Scholarship Fund. At the end of the film, there is a dedication to Edward's mother, Robin Norton.

Upcoming TV appearances for EN: Late Show (Fri 4/7), E! Behind the Scenes: Keeping the Faith (starting Sat 4/15),
Roger Ebert & the Movies (4/15 or 4/16) and pictures that include EN are in this month's In Style magazine in a
section on Jenna Elfman (his co-star in Keeping the Faith) [Thanks to Joanne
for the info!]. With the upcoming release of
KTF, interviews and clips from the movie may be shown on Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, E! News Daily,
CNN Showbiz Today in the next few weeks. Please note that the pictures of EN in the Vanity Fair are in the Oscar supplement,
not in the main magazine. I apologize for any confusion this has caused. I'm disregarding my policy of not discussing EN's private life to address a rumor. In the
caption of a photo of EN and Salma Hayek at the Oscars released by Reuters, it refers to Hayek as "Norton's fiancee". This is an unsubstantiated rumor. To my
knowledge, this has never been announced or discussed by Norton or Hayek in any interview. The only place this topic has been
mentioned is in a tabloid story printed recently. I'm dismayed to find that a reputable news organization presented a rumor as fact with
no supporting evidence.

Painted Veil announcement
|
|
NEW FILM PROJECT- Variety (2/25/00) reports that EN and Nicole Kidman are set to star in the Painted Veil
which will be directed by Gillian Armstrong. "Story begins in London in 1922 with Kidman’s Kitty Garstin marrying a buttoned-up scientist (Norton) in order
to escape the constraints of her family. The couple move to Hong Kong, where Kitty begins an affair with the local playboy. When her husband learns of the
peccadillo, he takes her to a remote village where she begins a journey of self-discovery." This is an adaptation of the W. Somerset Maugham novel which was also made into
a film of the same name starring Greta Garbo. It will start filming in the fall. [Thanks to
Joanne for the scoop and vhaddadi for additional info!!]

Bible Burlesque
|
|
Edward Norton plays a character that turns from a soft-spoken country boy to cocaine-sniffing Off-Broadway playwright. A new project? Nope, a play
Norton starred in called Bible Burlesque in 1994. Luckily,
Joanne spotted a mention that EN performed with the 29th St. Rep,
and I was able to find more info: two photos and a review of the play. More
on Bible Burlesque. The March issue of GQ has a photo of
Sir Anthony Hopkins and EN across two pages as well as an excerpt of a conversation between the two. GQ
conversation. As you may notice, I've changed a few things on the website, including adding a Film/Projects
page (and linked to that a Theater page). I am in the process of updating pages to reflect this change.

Winner of the Week

Entertainment Weekly 2/11 (Sundance cover- going off the stands either today or tomorrow) calls EN the winner of the week for his deal to co-star in The Score - it has a
little caricature of EN. This coming week's Entertainment Weekly has a Spring Movie Preview including a new pic of Keeping the Faith and a summary [Thanks to
Joanne for the info on both!].
I've just added an update page.

KTF poster

Today (2/11/00) I stumbled upon an article printed in Variety in January. It basically talks about a deal between Endeavor (the talent agency that
represents EN) and , a web developer, where would develop "web businesses" for Endeavor's clients. The obvious question is will there be an official
Edward Norton website coming soon? Hard to say at this point, but I will keep you up-to-date. Read the article

Brando interested in The Score
|
|
Norton, DeNiro, and... Brando. Just kind of hits you like a ton of bricks, but it's may happen. Variety (1/31/00) reports that Marlon Brando is negotiating
to star alongside Robert DeNiro and Edward Norton for The Score. This article states definitively that Edward Norton is signed to the project whereas the the stories below
have him close to signing on to the picture. Brando would apparently would play the fence to Robert De Niro's veteran thief. Read the announcement

EN may work with De Niro

A NEW EDWARD NORTON PROJECT- Variety.com (1/27/99) reports that Norton may join Robert De Niro in the upcoming film The Score. "Norton would play a
young man who thwarts the retirement plans of a master thief by blackmailing the guy into pulling off one last heist." The Hollywood Reporter has some additional
info "Norton will be paid a $6.5 million upfront plus 4% of first-dollar gross". Read the announcement

Fight Club articles and audio
clips
|
|
Cineaste features an in-depth interview with Edward Norton in which he mainly talks about acting and how he creates his characters. The same interview can also be found in the book
Projections 10. It is an excellent interview and should not be missed. For more info, check the
magazine/TV alert page. To view a partial transcript, click here. I just posted audio clips from a press interview done with EN for Fight Club. His comments really
allow you to see how much work and thought went into Fight Club, more so than most published interviews. Audio clips
Cinefex magazine's January issue has a whole section on the special effects that went
into Fight Club. I've been starting to add more technical articles on Fight Club to show how those outstanding visuals were created. Take a look at this article from
Wired magazine (interview with f/x "guru" Kevin Mack) along with one from Film Comment
(interview with director David Fincher. I have a little peripheral observation on the Hughes project mentioned below. Please read my additional note accompaning the Hughes announcement-

EN as Howard Hughes
|
|
Variety's Dish column (1/13/00) mentions the possibility of Edward Norton portraying billionaire recluse Howard Hughes in a biopic directed by Milos Forman and written by screenwriters
Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (People vs. Larry Flynt and Man on the Moon). Since this comes from Variety, it is more reliable than the
casting rumors mentioned below. However, please note that the column indicates that this very, very preliminary (so whether or not anything will come of it is anyone's guess). Another factor to
consider to whether or not this will go forward is that this is only the latest of a few Hughes bios that are in planning stages. For the full details

Casting Rumor- The Score
|
|
A new casting RUMOR has surfaced. Cinescape's website reports that Edward Norton may co-star with Robert De Niro in the upcoming movie
The Score. The plot (according to Corona's Coming Attractions) has De Niro as a thief ready to retire when
a younger thief blackmails him into committing one last heist. Ben Affleck was supposed to play the role of the younger thief, but he dropped out. The Hollywood Reporter production listings (films in preparation section) states that March 6, 2000 will be the start date for
filming and that the movie will be directed by Frank Oz. Please remember that this is only a RUMOR. An interesting note is that an earlier rumor from about two weeks ago posted on
Corona's Coming Attractions) has EN's Fight Club co-star Brad Pitt as another possibility for the role. Cinescape states
that the source of this Norton casting rumor is Hollywood.com. However, I was unable to find any mention of it when I looked. We'll just see what happens.
[Thanks to SailorJi for the casting info!]. Happy New Year!
